A principal will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but, in fact, build community, the leader proactively creates with staff, opportunities for parents/guardians, community and business representatives to participate as “stockholders” in the school such that continued investment of resources and good will are not left to chance.

Town hall meetings sponsored by the superintendent to gain parents support, provide information and mutual work together.
I sponsored a community event and engaged community and parent support for back to school.

I attended all PTA and Title 1 meetings, where we served the needs of our students and their families.
During my principal residency one of my students lost their parents many personal belongings. I rallied community partners and gathered donations to send to their family.

The principal designs protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state, and district mandates.

During my principal residency I helped organize and manage Title 1 nights, which is a requirement that for our school which is Title 1. We hosted a parent night where students brought in their parents and develop learning activities to take home and work on alongside their parents.
